The 2014 version is on the Exchange App store. The page is in German, so you may need to translate if you do not “sprechen Deutsch”. The tool is called BIMTools and you can find information about it here. Luke mentioned a tool by a company named SofiSTiK. One such post was over at “What Revit Wants”. Many have commented on this issue before on the various forums and blogs out there. Unfortunately.Ī quick Google search revealed that I am not alone on the desire for an easy way to do this. If you have ever been faced the this issue of swapping fonts in Revit before, you know that it is NOT as easy as simply flipping some master switch. Both of these clients use fonts other than arial in tags, dimensions and text. I'm going to test locking some of it down to see if I can solve the problem.I am working on a few Revit implementation projects for a couple clients right now. Our thought is that Revit is reading some temp file somewhere. For the above reasons and just cause people are people. Yes, ideally we'd just keep them out of the autocad file at the same time. Yes I could do some of this with a view template, but I still have 8 places to turn off/on a layer. The other problem is keeping them from importing and exploding. If I link them in directly I'll have 8 different places to adjust that layer and in our experience that isn't completely reliable. By placing them in an IPF I can turn those off in one place and make adjustments fairly easily globally in one model. One set of users need all the piping s (about 8) but only part of those. Add on another dozen or more (adjacent buildings) you can see how it becomes problematic. So a rvt file starts with 15 worksets if I remember correctly. Each building has a minimum of 6 and up to 13 discipline specific revit files. Each one of those may have up to 6 dwgs (one or two for each level). For one building we'll have about 15 sub disciplines. Revit 2014 UR3 w/ hotfix for multi-schedule It appears that revit get confused about layer states and just gives up with no error. What's worse is once this happens it means that control of layer visibility is out the window. I've tried it in clean projects with simple dwgs. Instead they will be a separate category with separate subcategories. If you have the DWG open in Autocad while launching the container file or the host file any dwg that is open will no longer be contained in the "Imports in Families" option. Lots of hours spent setting this up across about 9 buildings. We have literally hundreds of these files. This may seem convoluted but due to client ALL layers in the ACAD file should follow a pretty well defined standard. This allows you to turn off a sub-discipline (via worksets) or via "Object Styles->Imported Objects->Imports in Families" turn off layers across all disciplines visible. Link RVT into your appropriate project file.Link appropriate files at appropriate levels into that in-place family.Create an in-place family (ipf) of Site category.in that file create a workset related to the sub-discipline (the one I am looking at has about 2 dozen). To "contain" our legacy dwg s we developed a straight forward, albeit convoluted, way to keep their infection down to a bare minimum and allow fairly specific but quickly implemented layer visibility.
